How do we roll? Thanks to the RackIt Smart Cargo System, we roll with whatever we need with us.
Featured on select Jetson e-bike models, RackIt makes it easier than ever to transport your daily necessities or carry what you shop for home. The sturdy rear cargo rack built onto those bikes is the base of the system, but where RackIt takes “stuff transport” to the next level is in the companion carry-all accessories that click onto and off of that rack – in one easy motion. (Accessories for sale soon on RideJetson.com!)
Bags, baskets, and more, every RackIt accessory is unique – which is why it’s fun to build a collection. But they all feature RackIt’s proprietary attachment mechanism, for swift, seamless attachment to the rack and easy swap-out of one accessory for the next.
No bungee cords are necessary, and no tools are required. Just click a RackIt accessory on and go, knowing that it – and what you’ve packed inside of it – are secure for every electric mile that you ride.
Before you start
Accessory compatibility
RackIt accessories are only compatible with RackIt bike racks. They do not click onto other rear bike racks, including those found on other Jetson bikes and e-bikes that are not part of the RackIt family. Be sure to consult your bike's user manual to see if the rear cargo rack on your Jetson is specifically called out as a RackIt one.
Key components
No matter which RackIt accessories you have or which e-bike in the RackIt family you ride, the attachment process is the same. Familiarize yourself with these parts:
On your bike rack
- 3 straight crossbars – These run left to right across the rack. The front and back crossbars are where the accessory attachment happens. The middle crossbar just provides extra support.
On your accessory
- The baseplate - This is the hard plastic platform at the bottom of your bag or basket that contains the attachment mechanisms.
- The release button – Located on one side of the baseplate, this is what you’ll push when you want to remove your accessory from the bike rack.
- 2 different hook and catch mechanisms – On the underside of the baseplate, these are the anchors that secure your accessory to the rack.
- 4 “feet” – Also on the underside, these prop your accessory upright when you rest it on a surface other than the cargo rack. They also protect the hook and catch mechanisms from compressing under the weight of the accessory.
Positioning
The longer edges of the baseplates are the sides, and the shorter edges are the front and back. Position your accessory lengthwise on the rack such that the release button is on the left side of the bike – the side where the rider’s left hand and foot will be when seated.
How to attach your accessory
- Hold your accessory over the rear cargo rack according to the positioning guidance given above, with the release button on the left side of the bike.
- Tilt the front of your accessory down towards the rack. Loop the front attachment hook on the underside of the baseplate under the front crossbar of the rack.
- Use some pressure to carefully push the back of the baseplate down onto the rack. The rear catch mechanism will “click” into place around the 3rd crossbar.
Important: Always make sure you hear the catch mechanism “click” into place. That's a good sign that the mechanism is securely gripping the rear crossbar. - Check that the accessory is secure on the rack. If so, fill it up, pop on your helmet – and take off on your next great biking adventure.
How to release your accessory
- Push and hold the accessory release button on the side of the baseplate. This will pull the rear catch mechanism out from around the crossbar of the rack.
- While you are pushing the button, lift the back of the accessory off of the bike rack.
- Continue to raise the back of the accessory until the front attachment hook rotates around the front crossbar enough that you can fully lift your accessory off of the rack.
- Secure your e-bike, and enjoy your destination!
Important notes
- Do a safety check prior to every ride. Ensure that all accessory straps, handles, zippers, and cords are contained and not dangling down near any of your bike moving parts, such as the wheel, pedals, or chain.
- All Jetson bikes and e-bikes have a maximum carrying weight capacity, which you can find in your model’s user manual. For safety and to ensure that your bike can perform at its full potential, ensure that the combined weight of the rider, RackIt accessory, and its contents do not exceed that threshold.
- The RackIt Rear Cargo Rack can be used like a traditional bike rack, without a companion accessory. Just be sure to secure what you place on it with bungee cords or straps.
