A “SKU” — short for “Stock Keeping Unit”, and usually pronounced “skew” — is a product’s model number that companies primarily use for behind-the-scenes organization. But, it’s also a useful piece of information for you to have, too.
Like a product’s serial number, a product’s SKU serves as a form of identification for the exact product you have in your hands (or under your feet). Knowing your Jetson SKU can help streamline certain processes, such as when you reach out to the Jetson Care Team for product support, want to check compatibility of parts and accessories, and determine the specific terms of your product’s warranty coverage.
What to look for
There are lots of codes and numbers involved in production and retail that are displayed on everything from in-store signage to online shopping carts. Here’s what to look for when trying to find the SKU:
- Starting Point – Almost all Jetson SKUs begin with the letter “J”. (It’s our favorite.)
There are a few exceptions: SKUs for our spare parts start with the letter “P.” SKUS for our Amber Light-Up Strips start with the letter “A.” SKUs for Triple Eight brand helmets and pads start with a number or the letters "WP." - Format – Most Jetson SKUS consist of two groups of letters and numbers separated by a hyphen. Examples of our standard SKU format: JXYZ-ABC, JLMNOP-DEFG, and J15-QRST.
In some cases, SKUs will have 3 parts separated by 2 hyphens. Those may look something like these, which have a 2-character ending tacked on:
JXYZ1-ABCD-RA
JXYZ1-ABCD-OB
JXYZ1-ABCD-BB
If you’ve purchased your Jetson outside of the U.S., the SKU may look like these, with an addition in the middle.
JXYZ1-CA-ABCD
JXYZ1-CAN-ABCD
JXYZ1-MX-ABCD
JXYZ1-OS-ABCD - Identifier - SKUs will often have the word “SKU” in front of the actual SKU. (Example: “SKU: JDEF-XYZ") Sometimes, though, it may say “model” instead.
Where to look
Now that you know what to look for, it’s time to go and find it. There are a few places where you can try finding your product’s SKU.
- On the product itself
In most cases, our SKUs are printed on black and white “product information” labels that are then adhered directly to the products. Tips for where to look for them:-
- Kick scooters and e-scooters – Check the side or underside of the deck. (That’s the thing your feet go on.)
- Hoverboards and JetKarts – Turn your ride upside down and look for the sticker on the underside.
- Adult bikes and e-bikes – Depending on your model, a label could be:
- On the stem of the bike frame below the handlebar
- On the bike frame near where the seat is attached
- On the lower part of the bike frame in between the pedal area and the front tire
- Kids’ bikes – Scope out the bike frame between the seat and the pedals.
- Kids’ ride-ons – This is a diverse group of products, so dependent on yours the label could be on the underside of the product, on the bottom of the seat, or on the frame.
- Parts and accessories – Some have labels attached to the products (chargers, for example) -- but due to their unique nature/shape, others don’t accommodate labels as easily. If you can’t find a label with SKU, keep reading.

- On the box
If the SKU sticker on your product is not readable or has fallen off, and you still have the box that the product came in, go grab it: Our packaging usually has the SKU printed on it. It won’t be large or prominently featured – so look at the details in smaller fonts. - On RideJetson.com
If product and packaging don’t deliver, hop online.
Locate the product detail page for your Jetson in the retail section of our website by navigating your way to it using our pull-down menu categories or by typing its model name in the search function at the top of the page. (“Mojo hoverboard” or “Bolt Pro” – as examples.)
Once you click on the product’s page, the SKU will be displayed towards the top of it. Here’s a product page for our Axle Electric Bike, in which you can see the SKU (JAXL12-BLK) listed near the top. If there are multiple color variations online, click the color swatch circle for the one you have to be sure that the correct SKU is displayed.
Important notes
Different variations of the same model will have slightly different SKUs. If your family has several different (but maybe similar) Jetson hoverboards, for example, always check the SKU for each one. This includes:
- Color – The SKU for a black Mojo Hoverboard is JMOJO-BLK, for example, and the SKU for the gold variation is JMOJO-GLD.
- Branding – We make a few different 3-wheeled Disney Princess kick scooters, for instance, each with slightly different styling – and its own SKU. Likewise, a scooter featuring Buzz Lightyear that has the same shape and functionality as one with Belle has its own SKU, too.
- Release Type – If you buy a Jetson -certified remanufactured product, it is given a new SKU to indicate to us that it’s gone through that process. The SKU for a brand-new Adventure Electric Bike, for example, is JADV11-BLK; but the SKU for one that has been remanufactured is JADV11-BLK-RA.
SKU got it? If not, just reach out to us. With a few quick questions, our team can determine what Jetson you have and what its SKU is.
